About

I am a director of machine learning research at NVIDIA and a Bren professor at Caltech Computing + Mathematical Sciences (CMS) Department.  My research bridges theory and practice of machine learning. I have worked on new machine-learning algorithms that enable computers to process complex multi-dimensional data using mathematical objects called tensors. I also finds ways to make machine-learning algorithms leaner and more effective so that they can be scaled up massively.  Previously, as principal scientist at Amazon Web Services, I helped deploy machine-learning applications on the cloud such as the SageMaker service.
